I have to say hello to anyone and everyone who is currently reading this and cannot tell you how excited I am that you are here. I’ll try not to repeat myself too much, you can find most of what I really want to say on the ABOUT page, however since this is my first post I do want to have an introduction.
I am someone who has suffered from anxiety since I can remember, the physical and mental aspects of it. There were moments in my life where I really did not have any control over it and it seriously effected everything I was doing. I decided to start therapy (again throwing in that annoying disclaimer but I want everyone to know I am not a licensed doctor, therapist, psychologist, anything…) So everything that is said here is just my personal opinion or hopefully personal opinions of others (I really do hope someone wants to write in the comments!) and we can have a collective safe space to talk all things anxiety.
I don’t want to focus heavily on information in a sense of my age, race, sex, etc. because when it comes to anxiety that doesn’t matter. Whether you are a 50 something year old man, a 25 year old woman or a teenager just struggling to get through high school, we all can get anxiety. It can all feel like our anxiety will not be understood by someone who doesn’t perfectly fit into a certain box they can relate to, but that’s not true. I myself have had conversations with people coming from across the world, have a 20 year age difference, and have completely different ways of growing up and when we talk about anxiety, it feels EXACTLY the same. Maybe the trigger is different but oh boy does it feel the same. So that’s why I’m keeping my personal info just for now at a minimum. I’m not embarrassed, afraid, and definitely not ashamed. However, I want everyone to feel like we can throw away all the background noise and focus on what’s important, helping each other with our anxiety.
I hope that you will be able to gain something from this blog, anything will make me extremely happy, and I would love to be able to communicate with someone who is going through what I am constantly going through as well. It would be amazing to chat with you and I hope that you will want to come back and build a community of Anxious Annie’s helping each other through the unfortunate battle of anxiety. (Yes, I totally just called it a battle and felt like a real Braveheart moment, I feel cool okay). Hope to hear from you soon and will always wish the best of luck to everyone!
